ON-SITE APPRAISAL

Headquartered in the Midwest, we conduct in-person appraisal assignments nationwide for significant personal property assets requiring documented in-person  inspection and analysis.

We work with attorneys, fiduciaries, advisors, corporations, museums, institutions, and private clients to provide substantiated, defensible valuation reports suitable for estate tax, charitable contribution, insurance, litigation, and planning purposes.

For substantial collections, high-value property, or matters involving multiple parties, physical inspection is often required. We travel coast to coast to conduct on-site examinations, or, when appropriate, coordinate with our trusted national network of vetted professionals to ensure proper in-person inspection standards are maintained.

All appraisal reports are prepared and signed by an ISA Certified Appraiser of Personal Property (CAPP), the highest level of personal property appraisal designation awarded by the International Society of Appraisers. The On-Site Appraisal Process

Initial Consultation

We begin with an up to one-hour complimentary Zoom or Phone consultation to:

  • Review the circumstances requiring valuation, and clarify the intended function of the appraisal

  • Discuss the property under consideration, including significant assets, asset categories, collection scale, and history of ownership and related documentation

  • Address assignment conditions, such as timeline or parties involved

  • Identify potential complexities, such as provenance gaps, authenticity concerns, or lack or precedent for highly unique situations

Most assignments can easily be assessed and quoted based on this initial discussion. Only unusually complex matters require extended pre-engagement research or consultation.

Following consultation, we provide recommended next steps along with a proposed fee structure.

  • Straightforward matters are typically quoted as a flat fee or narrow range.

  • Complex or multi-asset estates are quoted within a broader range to reflect research variables and reporting requirements.

Engagement & Retainer

Upon acceptance, we issue a formal appraisal agreement defining scope, function of the appraisal, and professional standards. A retainer will also be requested at this time.

On-Site Examination

After the signed agreement and retainer are received, we schedule the on-site inspection. We work collaboratively with team members to coordinate scheduling and access to conduct the inspection and review relative documentation in a discreet and orderly manner.

Research & Report Preparation

Following inspection, we conduct comprehensive market research and prepare a fully substantiated written USPAP compliant appraisal report.

Delivery & Review

Once the appraisal is complete, the final invoice is sent. Once payment is received, the finalized report is delivered. We also schedule up to a one-hour review call to discuss conclusions, answer questions, and ensure the report is fully understood.

Scope & Timing

The duration of an appraisal assignment depends on the nature, scale, and reporting function of the property involved. Complex estates, multi-category collections, highly significant or niche property, authenticity considerations, and reporting requirements all influence scope.

Because each engagement is unique, time requirements cannot be determined without preliminary review.

Unless unusually large or complex, reports are typically completed within 60 days.

If an accelerated timeline is required (for example, a 2–4 week turnaround), we will do our best to accommodate your timeline. An expedite fee may apply.

Billing & Professional Fees

Professional time is billed at $250 per hour.

On-site appraisal engagements require a $1,500 minimum assignment.

Travel expenses are included at cost, without markup.
