The Expert Appraisal Company provides appraisal services for rare and significant books, manuscripts, and historical documents on behalf of estates, institutions, fiduciaries, and private collectors. Engagements are undertaken when careful analysis and substantiated valuation are required for estate administration, insurance coverage, charitable contribution, litigation support, or collection planning.
Areas of focus include important antiquarian and early printed books, first editions, limited and fine press publications, archival materials, autograph letters and signed documents, manuscripts, and historically significant papers. Both individual works of consequence and large collections are evaluated. Consideration is given to authorship, edition, completeness, condition, provenance, rarity, and other value influencing factors.
Grounded in more than a decade of auction house leadership and fifteen years of fine and decorative arts and appraisal practice, each assignment is approached with a level of research appropriate to the material and the intended use of the report. Appraisals are prepared in compliance with USPAP standards and are designed to provide clear, defensible conclusions suitable for IRS, insurance, estate, and legal purposes.
